Nike elephant shoe, Pity the poor elephant forced to wander the wilderness with one leg noticeably shorter than the other three. We don't know how the animal came to Nike's attention, but it was the lucky recipient of the sneaker brand's biggest-ever custom shoe: a gray monstrosity custom-designed to provide the elephant with a literal lift. It's unclear exactly when the shoe was built or where the elephant is now. But the gray fabric was meant to blend seamlessly with the elephant's skin, while the pink bits of remaining fabric are, in the words of Nike's lead public relations official, Heidi Burgett, "what's left of the beat-up swoosh.

Tebow Lingerie League, Tim Tebow gets his first job offer

Tebow Lingerie League, When you lose your job, there's sadness. Depression. Frustration. And sometimes, from an unexpected quarter ... salvation.
Tim Tebow's out of a job. But on the very same day the Jets kicked him to the curb, the Legends Football League — the fancy new name for the former Lingerie Football League — came through with a job offer.

No, no, Tebow won't be in lingerie. Rather, he now has a standing offer from league president Mitchell Mortaza to serve as the national Quarterbacks Coach of the Legends Football League. (The females-only league has undergone a rebranding effort, including getting rid of the revealing outfits as shown above. And that's a good thing, because Tebow would probably have a tough time reconciling lingerie-clad quarterbacks with his faith.)
Here's the letter in full:

Now, we'd place the odds of this happening at only slightly higher than Tebow's winning percentage as a Jet, but hey ... at least the guy's got options.

Topless Kate photos charges

Topless Kate photos charges, A woman photographer has been placed under formal criminal investigation in connection with pictures taken of the Duchess of Cambridge as she sunbathed in France, it emerged tonight.

Legal sources in Paris said she is Valerie Suau, who admits taking images of Kate in the south of the country in September. She describes her pictures, published in France's La Provence regional newspaper, as 'all decent'.

But she is now facing a criminal trial along with a man believed to be Ernesto Mauri, the publisher of French Closer magazine, which first ran the pictures. Both are being prosecuted under strict privacy legislation.

Kate, 31, and 30-year-old Prince William took legal action against Closer in September, as their lawyer, Aurelien Hamelle, described the Duchess as a 'a young woman, not an object’.

He said the royal couple had suffered a 'grotesque breach of privacy' and felt 'violated' during a 'highly intimate moment during a scene of married life'.

Ms Suau, whose name is pronounced 'sewer', has kept a low profile ever since the case, but police are believed to have arrested her earlier this month.

She took the photos on September 5 as the couple relaxed at Viscount Linley's retreat, Chateau d'Autet, in Provence.

Referring to Princess Diana's death in 1997, Mr Hamelle said it was 'just six days after the 15th anniversary of the cynical and morbid hunt which led to the death of William's mother'.

Mr Hamelle told the court William and Kate could not have known they were being spied on and a photographer would have needed a long lens, even if he or she was on a public road.

Mr Hamelle said that if the original digital images were not handed in, the Mondadori group - which publishes Closer - should be fined £8,000 a day for non-compliance.

The Duke and Duchess also launched criminal proceedings against the then unnamed photographer under France's strict privacy laws.

The French media are protected from having to name their sources - including photographers - but the royal couple are said to have made it a personal crusade to discover who took the images.

Ms Suau has denied being responsible for taking any indecent images. She says she took pictures of Kate in her swimsuit but not topless.

Yet, despite her claims, no other photographer has been identified, nor even been placed in the area at the time.

Delphine Pando, representing the magazine, told a court case in the Paris suburb of Nanterre last year that topless photographs were no longer considered shocking.

She denied that the chateau was inaccessible to public view and claimed the magazine did not hold the rights to the pictures, so it could not be proved that it intended to republish them.

Richard LeParmentier had played in more than 50 movies and TV shows and was best remembered for his role as the arrogant Admiral Motti, commander of Vader's planet destroying Death Star in 1977 film Star Wars: A New Hope.

In the infamous scene, Motti mocks Vader's 'sorcerer's ways' and 'sad devotion to that ancient Jedi religion.'

This leads to a near-fatal confrontation with the helmeted Vader who crushes his windpipe using 'the force.'

LeParmentier also played a police officer in 1988 film Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and is reported to have recently been working as a screenwriter for British television.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1946 to British and Irish parents, he moved to the UK in 1974.

He was married from 1981 to 1984 to British actress Sarah Douglas, who played the supervillain Ursa in Superman II.

The actor, who appeared at several sci-fi conventions, said in 2008 of his famous Star Wars scene: 'I did the choking effect by flexing muscles in my neck. It set off a chain of events, that choking.

'I can't do it anymore because, oddly enough, I have had an operation on my neck and had some 21st century titanium joints put into it,' he added to The Coventry Telegraph Geek Files.

Originally, LeParmentier was asked by creator George Lucas to play an unnamed part with only a few lines, but he turned it down, before being offered the role that would launch his career.

His family paid tribute to 'a warm, genuine person with an unparalleled joie de vivre.'

'He absolutely loved travelling the world and meeting his friends and fellow Stars Wars fans - whose tributes have given us all the best lines in this message,'  Rhiannon, Stephanie, and Tyrone LeParmentier said in a statement.

'Every time we find someone's lack of faith disturbing, we'll think of him .. He has gone to the Stars, and he will be missed.'

Ohio church shooting,

Ohio church shooting, Three outbursts of violence in or near churches, including one during worship services, are raising safety concerns for church leaders.

Eddie Contreras, youth pastor at Walnut Park Casa De Mi Gloria Church in Garland, Texas, was speaking to a group of students Friday evening (Sept. 24) when Jose Pablo, a student struggling with family problems, walked into the service.

Contreras continued preaching despite the interruption, and then Pablo pulled out a gun and shot the youth pastor, according to NBC News. Contreras is expected to recover.

Meanwhile, 75-year-old Thomas Repchic of Youngstown, Ohio, was shot and killed Saturday as he was driving his wife, Jacqueline, 74, home from St. Dominic Roman Catholic Church, where she works in the offices, The Associated Press reported.

Repchic was killed when six to 12 gunshots were fired at the couple's Cadillac. His wife was wounded but is expected to recover.

Repchic's death was the second shooting death outside St. Dominic's; last January, 80-year-old Angeline Fimognari was shot and killed after Mass in the church parking lot.

Youngstown Bishop George Murry encouraged the community to support each other during the tragedy.

"While we pray for justice for the Repchic family, it is important to remember that we also must work together to prevent crime by building safe and secure communities," he said in a statement.

The church is located in a neighborhood of older homes, some of which are boarded up and abandoned. The Repchics' car was found four blocks away from the church in an area close to empty, closed commercial outlets.

The community has struggled with the loss of local steel factories and has lost more than half its population to job losses. Murry urged members of the diocese to pray for safety and healing in the area.

"I ask the faithful of St. Dominic Parish, all members of the Diocese of Youngstown and indeed all people within the diocese, to pray for the Repchic family and for an end to violence in our community," he said.

Mauricio Elizondo, senior pastor at Walnut Park, also encouraged his congregation to move past the violence. "We will not start living in fear," he told NBC News. "We will not be held captive by the things that happen in society."
