might well be attributable to his Irishness. Appears that he's a descendant of Niall of the Nine Hostages, so he might have been meaning that when he shouted, "I'm a hostage!"
Could it be that Gates was profiled as an Irishman in Amerikay?

Dare I say, he's one of the Black Irish?!?
I know...I denounce myself...
But it's even more amusing that he may be related to Crowley! In which case, the good Sergeant should recieve even greater laud; you see, many might be tempted to give their relatives a break...
And so it is that, if the Corrigan brothers can be believed, then this coming Thursday at the White House "suds summit" we'll see an old cultural sterotype on display for all to see...
That is, three Irishmen sitting around, swilling beer, in order to get beyond a past transgression...
I just wonder what the PC police will think of all this?
Silante!
Was there a wee bit of whiskey involved?

Past trangressions? Revenge them.
If only Joyce was still alive to write about a day in Skip Gates' life.
Ruh-Roh…
The mask, it seems to have slipped a bit more…
Folks are starting to trend towards believeing that Obama shares the opinion of M’chelle that AmeriKKKa is a downright mean and unfair country…
This could be bad for the O!ne!…
No wonder they’re trying to ressurect their campaign battle cry, “B-B-But, BOOOOOOOOOSH!“
If Joyce was still alive you'd still be too dumb to figure Joyce out.
My Irish eyes are not smiling.
“MR. GIBBS: The President will drink Bud Light. As I understand it — I have not heard this, I’ve read this, so I’ll just repeat what I’ve read, that Professor Gates said he liked Red Stripe, and I believe Sergeant Crowley mentioned to the President that he liked Blue Moon. So we’ll have the gamut covered tomorrow afternoon. I think we’re still thinking, weather permitting, the picnic table out back.”

Political choices of beers?
Obama goes with the safe bet, Bud Light. Who can criticize that as being elitist? It is very American and it is low alcohol to boot.
Skip Gates goes with Red Stripe, a Jamaican brew. But in reality Red Stripe is owned by Diageo PLC (who owns Baileys, J&B, Guiness, Captain Morgan, Tangueray, etc.). A faux “Afro-Caribbean” corporate beer.
And Crowley goes with Blue Moon, which is a faux microbrew* of Molson Coors. Only a matter of time before they go after Crowley for that.

*I would have guessed Crowley as a Sam Adams man.
edgellrickwood2, so which would you be, Father Flynn or the old man?
Bob - classic, classic, classic!
But you get a 5 min time-out from the thought police... to your corner!

Blue Moon--Crowley
Red Stripe--Gates
Bud Light--Obama
Now personally, Blue Moon would not have been my first choice. But from a pure taste perspective it is hands down the best of that bunch.
If I were Crowley I would request the real cops' drink: a wee dram of the most expensive single malt I could think of. (Actually, the real cop drink is cheap Scotch, but if the Prez is buying.....)
